Kini Crush x BikiniMe’s Bali Palms Set

Some people crush on celebrities or a hottie in their class. Me? I crush on kinis and BikiniMe’s Bali Palms set has me crushing hard. It was love at first swipe. I was on Instagram (shocking) and viewing the people I follow’s stories. I was just about to close the app when I swiped to BikiniMe’s story. That’s when I first saw the beautiful Bali Palms set! Lisa was teasing me and all the bikini loving babes of her new collection. I was hyped and knew I had to get my hands on it!

You may remember her last season’s Ibiza Palms set. The minimalist chic pattern of light grey palm leaves and white background had me in swooning! Even though strapless suits may be tricky this one seemed to fit like a glove on everyone. I thought for sure this would be my kini crush and kini of my dreams. Don’t get me wrong it is gorgeous but once I saw the Bali Palms set my mind completely changed!

I can perfectly remember unwrapping my package and excitedly trying it on to see how it fit. I usually do a flatlay to show you babes a sneak peek of the goodies I receive in the mail but I couldn’t wait. The colors looked even more beautiful in person than I imagined! Similar to the Ibiza Palms set, the Bali Palms set has white palm leaves printed onto a mauve solid color. Isn’t that a dreamy combination?

Speaking of combinations, this set is reversible. You merbabes know how obsessed I am with reversible kinis. Pair the printed bottoms with the bralette flipped to white or vice versa. Or maybe you’re into all matching, you can do all Bali Palms print or all white. The choice is yours. I seriously can’t decide which side or combo is my favorite. My first impression of this set was how soft the fabric is. Why wear something uncomfortable or stiff? This set literally molded onto my body and let my curves show! The bralette top is so formfitting and flattering. I didn’t have any issues with coverage or sliding! I definitely believe that babes who are blessed with larger boobs will find this suit to be the answer to their prayers. Due to the bralette style, the straps that go straight back are supportive and comfortable. The band part of the bikini ties in the back and is adjustable for the perfect fit. Think of it as a traditional triangle top with extra support and leaves a less awkward tanline! You can also take the halter strings out of the loop and cross them for an x back style. Is there anything this top can’t do? I may or may not be guilty of wearing the bralette as bra a couple times just because it’s that amazing.

If you think the top is the perfect style for you wait till you hear the matching bottom of this set! Let start off with that it’s seamless. Hello comfort, goodbye squeezing love handles! This bottom will be your new obsession, trust me. Not only is the seamless design flattering but the demi-scrunch bottom gives your peach that extra boost to look nice and juicy. I’m not a scrunch bottom kinda bikini lover but this minimal detail has me reconsidering. First, you can barely tell when you’re wearing it but you will notice how good it makes your butt look #humpdaygoals

Not to mention the cheeky styled bottom is the perfect amount of coverage for a babe who wants to show off their assets without having it all on full display. It’s a tasteful cheeky suit! The side details of the bottom are adorable too with the two straps on each side! Bikini bottoms that are nonadjustable usually make me fearful. Maybe they’ll be too big and slide off or worse squeeze me so tight I have a muffin top. However, this is definitely not the case for the Bali Palms bottom! The seamless design and two straps do not dig in whatsoever.

I am so happy I was able to collab once again with BikiniMe! This was the perfect kini to wear in the Hamptons. It looked beyond beautiful in the outdoor pool that is surrounded by the woods. Q&A with our kini babe: Lisa Marie Martorano 

Tell me a little about yourself.

I was born and raised in Miami, FL before moving to Dominican Republic about 6 years ago. My favorite thing about living in DR is that I live right on the beach, and my workshop is only a few blocks away. Anytime I want to create something new or get inspired I just walk through the beach to get to my “happy place”, which is my factory.

I love my fur babies! They come with me to work when I’m at the factory. I also love food hehe My favorite is cooking my grandmas Italian recipes. My grandmother was a seamstress her whole life and gave me all her sewing tools and taught me techniques, I feel like she’s with me every time I use them. The entire process from cutting the fabric to creating a marketing campaign is so exciting with each new collection. It’s the best to be able to live in paradise and love what you do!

What is your favorite part about designing your own swimwear line?
The best part about designing my own swimwear line is being able to wear them! I live right on the beach so bikinis are part of my daily wardrobe. It’s so fun being able to pick out the fabrics, and see them come to life as a bikini.

Your kini styles are so flattering! Who do you have in mind when creating your kinis?
Our main goal is to make “BikiniMeBabes” confident in what they’re wearing, and be able to get the most possible use out of their bikinis so many of the styles are fully reversible.

We design bottoms with a woman’s curves in mind, most are not tight on the hips, to avoid cutting into the skin, and every top is adjustable which allows for a custom fit. Because we are based out of a surf/watersports active town we try to include styles are that also are great for active girls. I love seeing our bikinis on all types of women. Being able to see your brand on someone watching them surf, swim, or even just lay out, and knowing they are confident in what they’re wearing is amazing!

Do you like to rock vibrant loud prints or enjoy softer toned fabrics?
I’m guilty of being obsessed with anything bright, floral or tropical for myself. When choosing for a collection we try to include both options neutrals, and loud prints.

Describe your perfect beach day.
A perfect beach day for me is going to Charamicos in Sosua ( Dominican Republic) on a sunny day, with my boyfriend Tony. I love going during the week when it’s empty, the water there is crystal clear, and the sand is so soft and almost a yellow color it’s literally heaven. I love swimming, tanning, and enjoying the day with him eating fresh seafood, having a cold drink, and rocking my BikiniMe.

What’s the last emoji you used?
The last emoji I used was the crying laughing face lol.

What is BikiniMe’s biggest accomplishment?
BikiniMe’s biggest accomplishment is being able to proudly say we are fully handmade bikini company. We cut each piece by hand, add hand sewn details and truly love every part of the business from the manufacturing process, to the marketing and photoshoots. It is truly a dream job.

Name your favorite Netflix show and why?
My favorite Netflix show would have to be BLOODLINE. So good. I love dark dramas, also since I was born and raised in Miami I went to the keys a lot and it’s so cool to see a show based there. I’m the type of person the second they upload a new season I binge watch for 3 days, and finish the season.

How does being based in the Dominican Republic influence your designs?
Being in the Dominican Republic does influence my design. Firstly, because it’s always summer here. So bikinis are always in season which is great, and it’s why I constantly try to create new styles. I’ve also noticed my clientele depending on location usually has different preferences whether it be coverage, or style. I’m a miami girl born and raised so we try to keep that Miami influence in the cuts of our bottoms staying “cheeky”. Our motto is always “Miami inspired cuts with the durability to withstand the waves of Cabarete.” Cabarete is an amazing surf destination close to where we are based in Puerto Plata.

What is your all time favorite BikiniMe kini?
Wow! This is a hard one, I would have to say our Strapless top & No-Show bottom. It’s a classic and looks amazing on everyone. The top is so supportive, and the tie up back is so flattering. The no-show bottom is our best seller it’s reversible, doesn’t cut on the hips so hides all love handles and has a demi-scrunch that makes your butt look amazing! My newest favorite in this design is the “PALOMINITO SET” from our latest collection. It combines all my favorite things top, bottom, & a tropical print!

What’s new with BikiniMe?
BikiniMe launched its newest collection recently, we have already been receiving great feedback, we think it’s our best one yet! We would love to keep expanding our market and get our product in more boutiques all over the world, and maybe even having a store of our own.
