Hoaka Swimwear

Chances are you are familiar with Hoaka Swimwear but for those of you that haven’t heard of the brand let me do a quick run through. They are based in Canada and ship worldwide (with free shipping to the US and Canada). Elizabeth Rioux is the young designer and owner of Hoaka Swimwear. At only twenty years old this girl boss has built a bikini empire.

The young entrepreneur continues to evolve her designs with us babes in mind. Elizabeth is constantly traveling and going on amazing adventures #goals Why is that important? Because she knows exactly what we want out of a bikini. One that’s supportive, long lasting, and of course cute. The fabric this beach babe uses to meet our wants and needs is neoprene.

So I hinted on Instagram today that I wouldn’t have ever thought I’d wear a neoprene kini. You’re probably wondering, well why not? I personally never found a bikini that was made out of neoprene to be flattering. It made me feel unattractive and really self conscious. Who wants to feel that way at the beach? Not me. Typically the neoprene tops would make me look so flat chested. They would cover way too much of my boob or not mold correctly. The bottoms would dig into my hips and squeeze at my love handles. If I sized up the suit would slide off. Not to mention the majority of the neoprene bikinis I tried on weren’t cheeky. They made my booty look nonexistent. Why did I do all those butt exercises if I’m just going to look like I have 0 butt? *eye rolls*  I ended up just accepting the fact that neoprene kinis weren’t made for my petite frame.

Time passes and I find Hoaka Swimwear on Instagram (of course). I loved their suits and how they showed real actual customers with all kinds of body shapes. It was honestly refreshing and instilled hope that maybe just maybe I could also rock a neoprene kini after failed attempts. I’m not going to lie it took me a few months of indecisiveness to purchase a set because I feared it wouldn’t fit right and it’d be a waste of my money. After continuously seeing so many happy customers filling their Instagram I decided to reach out for some sizing advice. I DMed Hoaka Swimwear and told them my exact measurements (32B, 24 waist, 5’5). They responded with their suggestion (small top and xs bottom) of the style I was obsessing over, Zolie lilac set. I went ahead and purchased my suit.

When I was opening the package I was half nervous half excited to see how it would look on me. It fit me like a glove! It actually molded onto my body. I was in disbelief. I seriously thought I’d never comfortably wear a neoprene kini. I opted for the bootykini bottom as I feel most confident in cheeky/tiny bottoms. It gives the illusion of a fuller booty and minimizes tan lines. This made me so happy! The top has two non-sliding triangle pieces that meet in the middle giving you more cleavage and support. The back straps crisscross and are adjustable (the band is not).

The lilac color is absolutely gorgeous and looks amazing with a tan. I waited for my trip to the Bahamas to wear the kini in public and it was perfect. I was confident and up for any adventure! I didn’t have to worry about my boobs popping out or if my love handles were being squeezed. I was carefree enjoying the gorgeous day. If you’re like me thinking you have to be a certain body type to pull of a neoprene set, you should definitely give Hoaka Swimwear a try! They have different coverage bottoms and styled tops to satisfy all bikini enthusiasts.

I’m so glad I found your review. I have some body issues and it can be difficult for me to find the right size especially in swimwear. I ordered my first set shortly after reading your review for the first time. Since then I’ve reread it twice to sooth my anxiety about it not fitting or being flattering! I also love that hoaka shows real girls in their real lives, or Elisabeth herself in her own swim line.
