Blue House Bikinis: Spring Break Bikini Must Have
Have you ever played that game where someone asks you what three things you’d bring with you if you were stranded on a deserted island? Blue House Bikinis’ Miami top and Bryon bottom in monstera would be the first on my list! Along with lots of sunscreen and a knife (to cut down coconuts) in case you babes were curious. Seriously, I don’t think I would ever get tired of this beautiful print and the multiple style combinations. The good news is you don’t have to be stranded on an island to get your hands on this spring break bikini must have! You know I’m a HUGE fan of reversible kinis. Imagine my reaction when I found out Blue House Bikinis wanted to collaborate with my blog and the top of the set could be worn a total of 20 ways š¤Æ
Yea you read that right. If you’re on a tight budget or someone who gets tired of the same old same old quick, buy this kini right now. You won’t regret it! I love the functionality of it all. I can go from flirty with the bandeau styled top tied with the bow in the front to show some serious cleavage to sporty by removing the bow! Hate pesky tan lines? Tuck in the shoulder straps inside the bandeau. Voila, you now have a strapless top.
I unfortunately no longer get a spring break #adulting but for all you college and high school mermaids who are trying to figure out the kini you need for that fun vacay this is it! Can you believe you can have a bikini that transforms itself into so many different looks for $70?! I know brands that charge that (or more) for just a top.
My three favorite styles to wear this top are #1 & #2, #3 & #4, and #13 & #14 as featured on Blue House Bikinis’s site (click here to view the multiple ways).
Let’s talk bottoms. As you can tell I am head over heels for the top and needed a bottom that would perfectly compliment it. The reversibleĀ Byron bottom did not disappoint with its thin side straps and cheeky thong cut! I prefer less coverage bottoms to enhance the shape of my booty. In this case less is actually more š The fabric is incredibly soft and doesn’t dig into my hips!
Did I mention that the Bryon style bottoms are slightly high waisted? š¤¤ The design elongates your legs while making your waist appear slimmer! I am sooo here for it.
My measurements:
Height: 5ā5
Waist: 24ā³
Bust: 32ā³
Kini Size:
Top: S
Bottom: S
Great news babes!
Blue House BikinisĀ is now offering custom designed bikinis šš½Ā Choose your favorite style, select the fabric colors, enter your sizing, and preference of bottom coverage! It’s really that simple. I wish I had these options when I was in high school (cringes remembering tacky Victoria’s Secret kinis). Not only are you supporting a small local business but you’re receiving a high quality kini made just for you! You won’t be a basic beach matching everyone this spring break while wearing Blue House Bikinis.

Q&A with our kini babe: Amanda Brocksmith
What spiked your interest in creating bikinis?
I was always in a swimsuit growing up, whether it was a one piece for swim practice or a bikini at the beach. I think that influenced the understanding and love I had for swimwear. I had played with the idea of making my own bikini in high school because thats when Jolyn (a brand that specializes in competitive two pieces) and a lot of handmade brands started popping up, but it wasn’t until my freshman year of college that my boyfriend encouraged me to follow through with that dream. Eight months later, I had taught myself how to sew, sourced all the materials and launched Blue House!
Describe the first time you made a swimsuit. Was it a difficult task or a fun challenge? How did it turn out? Do you still have it as a keepsake?
Oh my gosh, I love this question. The first thing I tried to sew was a pair of cheeky black bikini bottoms. It took me about 6 hours to make and they were two sizes too big and so saggy in the butt. I used the totally wrong fabric and didn’t use any elastic in the seams. Iām surprised I was even able to make the sewing machine work because I didn’t even know what a bobbin was at that point. I absolutely still have it and intend to frame it in my new office!
Can you list some pros and cons of being a young entrepreneur?
Some people might not realize it, but Blue House is actually run all by me–and thatās probably the toughest part! I personally put a lot of pressure on myself to run the best version of my business as I can and that can be draining emotionally and physically. However, I love having full control over the design and manufacturing process. My favorite part of doing this is seeing my visions come to life and then having women from around the U.S wear and love my bikinis!
When you create your gorgeous kinis who do you have in mind? Do you have a muse?
Most of the time, I make what I would want to wear. I have a background in competitive swimming so many of my pieces have the dual functionality of being cute to tan in but also ready to go surfing in.
Does your personal style affect your bikini designs?
Absolutely! I donāt make anything I wouldn’t wear myself.
Where do you find inspiration for prints and designs?
My favorite resource for inspo is Pinterest! Thatās my go to for photoshoot and design inspo. I also love to just browse Instagram or fashion articles to see whatās trending. Iām loving the 70s trend revival so youāll see some bold stripes and fun colors in the new year!
If you could hang out with any celebrity or person for one day, who would you choose?
I would love to meet Devin and Tash from A Bikini A Day! They are so inspirational in all that they do and would love to be around their fun personalities and talk bikinis!
Which is your all time favorite Blue House Bikinis set?
So tough to choose! I wore my Bahamas one piece in Gingham ALL summer but Right now Iām constantly wearing the Malibu bottom and Miami top in Monstera! I love how the bottoms are seamless and sit a little higher on your hips! And the Miami top is so versatile itās my go-to when I canāt decide what to wear!
The Miami top is a bikini lovers dream! Not only is it reversible but it can be worn various ways. Can you tell us how you thought of it?
I love the popular straight across tops that are trending right now but didnt want to make it exactly like that. For me, I like to make transformative pieces so it was just a matter of thinking of how to make it different. I created this roadblock in my mind that bikinis have to be one piece. But realized that a removable second piece could be an incredible transformation tool.
What kicks would you pair with your kinis?
Some fun platform sandals! I actually have a crush on platform shoes right now. I feel like sandals would pair perfectly with the tropical warm vibes my brand has got going on.
You can only pack one swimsuit for a tropical vacay. Is it a bikini or one piece that youāre taking?
This is a tough one! I love to style my one pieces with some denim shorts or jeans. But if Iām going to be in the sun all day Iād definitely bring my bikini!
What music do you listen to?
Honestly, Iām all over the place! I turn on Drake when Iām working out, Jack Johnson when Iām showering, and Tropical House when Iām working.
Name a guilty pleasure of yours.
The Office on Netflix! Ā I have probably watched it at least 15 times through. Itās something that I turn on when Iām making dinner, sewing bikinis, or trying to fall asleep.
What is your favorite current trend.
In the bikini world, Iām loving textured suits! Iāve been on the hunt for some fun ribbed or velvet fabric. I also love the 70s vibes people are leaning towards again!
Dream travel destination?
I would love to stay at a luxury villa in Bali! Give me an Acai bowl and a cold drink and Iām set!
Are you a morning person or night owl?
I wish I was a morning person but Iām definitely a night owl.
