ballin’ on a budget
I’m tired of seeing girls targeted by losers who take advantage and mark up shitty quality swimwear, which is most likely unethically produced. I couldn’t take it anymore. After the 20th post I saw on my feed alone I had to say something. I wasn’t expecting a huge response at all. I just thought if I could get to one kini loving babe that was enough. After being reached out to by over 40 girls, who were desperately seeking affordable high quality swimwear, here I am writing a fully detailed post. Lucky for you babes, I love saving money and finding sales just as much as I love swimwear!
Aruba Swimwear – Sets under $100
I’ve heard a lot of great things about Aruba Swimwear! Although, I haven’t personally tried on one of their creations I am in love. They believe in quality over quantity! Aruba Swimwear is not a fast fashion business. Meaning, ethical sourcing and fashion sustainability is an important issue to them. Aruba Swimwear is designed in Australia and made with love in Bali, sweatshop free. They have a great relationship with their manufacturers and can ensure that we, as customers, will be supporting Fair Trade only.
If you do purchase a reversible set from Aruba Swimwear each side of the piece is technically $22.50 because it is a 4 in 1 bikini. So get your mix and match on and save with these babes!
Bikini Me – Sets range from $100 – $118
Lisa Martorano, is the Miami native who designs Bikini Me’s swimwear. As if Miami wasn’t tropical enough she moved to the Dominican Republic and manufacturers her suits there locally in Puerto Plata. She’s a total girl boss that cares about her customers and oversees that every detail in her bikinis are made perfectly.
Bikini Me has an array of designs and prints. Whether you like loud vibrant suits or more on the simple chic prints, I am positive that any beach babe can find the suit that is just right for her. I seriously cannot wait to meet Lisa later this month and collaborate with her swimwear. She truly is the sweetest!
Blackbough Swimwear – Sets under $60
When Adri Valencia, a.k.a. @alittlebikini, raves about a kini you know it’s good! For those of you who don’t know Adri, she is a Miami based bikini blogger like myself. She is the one who actually brought Blackbough Swimwear to my attention. You can read in full detail Adri’s findings on the fit of the suit and her recommendations by clicking here.
The story of this Phillipines based company is truly inspiring. Blackbough Swimwear started selling kinis a year ago! Prior to her successful website launch, the designer of Blackbough Swimwear, created bikinis for herself! Isn’t that amazing? I seriously wish I had the talent create beautiful suits. I’m hoping to order one of their sets in the near future because 1. They’re totally affordable 2. They’re gorgeous
Blue House Bikinis – Sets under $80 & One Pieces under $100
Their swimwear was created due to the desire to wear cheeky, seamless bikinis that couldn’t be found in the nearest retail store. Blue House Bikini founder, Amanda Brocksmith, grew up on the East Coast of Florida in Vero Beach. She grew up as a competitive swimmer so she knows that young women want a multi-dimensional, Brazilian bikini that flatters and flaunts while romping around in the water or relaxing on the sand. From the looks of it I would say she does just that! I really need the Pacific one piece in my life. I absolutely adore floral prints and hello it’s reversible. It’s another two for one deal. Hard to believe it’s only $90.
Bonvie Bikinis – Sets under $128
Okay babes, try not to freak out but BonVie Bikinis makes their suits to order. Cue the heavy breathing. This means if you’re in between sizes or not a risk taker when it comes to online ordering, you can send you exact measurements in the notes to ensure the perfect fit. *Happy dance* Oh and if there’s a style you love and want to make reversible this boss babe can do it! You do pay a little more to have the fabric reverse to a different print or solid color (like $5-$8 more) but it is worth it.
As you can tell I’m a HUGE fan of reversible bikinis. I feel like you’re saving money because you can mix and match it. One suit with 4 possibilities? Sounds like a winner to me. Btw, this is another made in the USA kini! I’ve been stalking my mailman for my order. I’ll definitely do an entire blog post of my collaboration with BonVie Bikinis so be on the look out!
Britt’s Bikinis – Sets under $100
Here’s a familiar name that you see often on my blog and Instagram. I bet you didn’t know that I’m actually close to the designer and owner of Britt’s Bikinis, Brittany Hernandez, This young entrepreneur is actually well basically my sister-in-law. She’s dating my boyfriend of ten years younger brother. We make quite the duo as we are always down to shoot and be the most extra together. Why am I telling you all this? That’s simple, I personally see what Britt goes through to make her bikinis as perfect as they are when you receive them.
From selecting fabric swatches to waking up early to do our fun shoots, she is a 100% invested in the creative and design process of her swimwear line. Britt’s Bikinis just keeps getting better and better with every collection.
Haiku Swim – Sets starting at $60
A little fun fact about Haiku Swimwear: I found them on Etsy three years ago when I was on the hunt for affordable swimwear that made me feel like a million bucks. I felt fancy af having someone tailor a suit to my measurements. I opted for a nude triangle top and side tie bottoms with mesh overlay. It was my favorite kini that I wore on my trip to Turks and Caicos.
Karma Bikinis – Sets starting at $95
I am so happy to include Karma Bikinis as one of the affordable swimwear brands on this list. I started doing some guest blogger posts for their site to raise awareness of issues that are affecting us all (social, environmental, etc.). These babes really opened my eyes and I’m grateful for that. They work really hard to make a difference in this world. It’s inspiring and admirable that they put such a heavy emphasis on being sustainable.
Karma Bikinis is a philanthropic and unique swimwear created by two sisters in 2014. Inspired by their combined passions for ocean conservation and the need for unique, adjustable, fair trade pieces came our swimwear line with a commitment to donate 7% of all proceeds to ocean conservation efforts. Practicing fair trade standards is ethical and should be mandatory across the board. In efforts to ensure fair practices they do routine site visits to inspect our trade methods. They try to keep practices as sustainable as possible to eliminate further environmental offsets.
I recently added the floral mandala set to my collection. Its sexy design and innocent print is one of the greatest combos I’ve ever seen! You can expect to see a lot of this set because it’s May’s BOTM.
MC Swim- Sets under $100
My favorite thing about my blog is it gives me the opportunity to meet and support fellow mermaids. Megan is a #girlboss who designs and creates her own swimwear line, MC Swim. She grew up in St. Pete, Florida and being a true Florida native has been living in a bikini since she was a little mermaid. Megan is talented, creative, and overall the sweetest person I have worked with. She achieves her goal of making any girl feel confident and unique by tailoring her swimwear to any bikini enthusiasts wants or needs. You decide on the style and fabric. It’s like having a fairy godmother for bikinis!
Megan was very patient with me when I placed my order. I was all over the place. One second I wanted the lace up top the next I wanted a scoop neck style. She helped me find the perfect kini that would flatter my body. If you’re unsure of what color or style compliments you best DM her!
Na Wahine Lole Swimwear – Sets starting at $75
I’ve had the pleasure of “meeting” the babe behind Na Wahine Lole Swimwear on Instagram. Her designs are gorgeous and appear to be so flattering on everyone. I find it rare for a bikini brand to create swimwear that actually looks good on all different body shapes. This babe nailed it! I’ve been meaning to order from her but I can’t decide which print I want. #TheStruggleIsReal
Aside from Na Wahine Lole’s designs I love the fact that she owns the rights to her exclusive prints! This means you won’t find other beach babes wearing your suit (at least the likelihood is lower) unlike the infamous red one piece promised by Sunny Co Clothing. Na Wahine Lole has teamed up with Marieanne Morency, a.k.a. @thetropicalartist and I am obsessed. These talented babes definitely make a great pair and create the best printed kinis I’ve seen.
Nicole Swimwear – $100 Sets
You can either keep shopping overly priced, low quality swimwear or shop from my list of affordable kinis, but that’s none of my business. I’m totally kidding, because I’m making it my business. Nicole Swimwear is another local bikini brand that makes high quality kinis that don’t leave us broke. How is it fun to splurge on kinis if you don’t have gas money to make it to the beach?
Nicole Cerra is the young designer behind the Miami based swimwear line Nicole Swimwear. Nicole’s inspiration comes from Miami’s tropical art and fashion. This girl boss not only designs the style of her bikinis but also sketches the print for her fabric. How cool is that? Her bikinis are truly one of a kind as they are created from Nicole’s artwork and then transferred onto high quality fabric. I absolutely love that they are all reversible because I can mix and match the prints dependent on my mood. Some days I want to be matchy-matchy and other days I find myself wanting the printed fabric paired with solid color. It’s great to have versatility and options when you’re always in a bikini. I recommend any bikini enthusiast to check out Nicole Swimwear because friends don’t like friends wear basic bikinis!
Rio Swim – Sets under $100
Can you imagine a time where I wasn’t kini obsessed? I used to not care about brands, designs, or prints. However, I did get excited when my mom would go on business trips to Brazil because she would purchase Brazilian bikinis during her stay there just for me! The vibrant colors and cheeky cut were so flattering to my underdeveloped body at the time. My friends had big boobs and/or asses and here I was a skinny petite girl. Brazilian bikinis gave me that boost of confidence and made me feel sexy! This is probably why I’m attracted to Rio Swim.
Lauana is the bikini boss babe behind Rio Swim and is a native Brasileira. Growing up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil she always admired women of all sizes flaunting their perfect fitting itty bitty bikinis. Her goal is to make all women feel sexy and confident in their swimwear just as Brazilians do, which is why she started Rio Swim. I swear, it’s like she’s talking about me.
Located in California’s Bay Area, Rio Swim is dedicated to bringing the sexiest part of Brazil to you. Their exotic bikinis are exclusively made in Brazil using the finest Lycra fiber, a material proven to fit your body better and hold up longer for your versatile beach needs. Brazilian lycra is so soft you won’t be able to resist the feel, the fit and function of Rio Swim’s bikinis!
Sundia Swimwear – Sets starting at $40
I just realized that I don’t own a Sundia kini and with their sets starting at just $40 I’m not sure why not. This is (so far) the most affordable bikini set on my list! I’m in shock, I have friends who spend $40 alone in Starbucks trips throughout the week. Sundia Swimwear is also eco-friendly! Saving the environment and looking good on a budget? Count me in.
Their journey began in July 2016 just like my blog! It hasn’t even been a year for them and they already have a solid following. I can now see why so many babes are loving this San Diego based brand. I’m sure you will too with their affordable prices!
Sundaze Bikinis – Sets starting at $60
I told you babes I have a thing for reversible swimwear! How could one resist a Sundaze kini knowing that it is made out of recycled ocean plastic? Once again, we’re looking good while lessening our impact on the Earth. I’m really happy to have done this post because I’m learning more and more about these brands I follow on Instagram. I can honestly say I’m falling more in love too as I discover their goals, the creators, and affordability.
Sundaze Bikinis is based in Honolulu, which definitely influences their tropical style Their kinis are too freaking cute to pass up! They have so many lovely prints like the seashell and pink hibiscus, which is printed on one side of the kini and the other is solid recycled fabric made from ocean plastic on the reverse. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this brand!

Let me introduce you to my latest addition to my ever growing kini collection, Seven Swim. They are dedicated to flattering women’s bodies of every shape and size. Seven Swim feels that no one should cover themselves up because they can’t find the right swimsuit that will make them feel happy and sexy at the beach. They are here to create swimsuits that fit that need. The simple designs and amazing material make these suits comfortable for any activity. Whether you are surfing, swimming, or laying by the pool our swimsuits will stay in place and sit like a second skin. I haven’t event told you the best part about this kini brand! They are also eco-friendly. Yay! More Earth saving babes creating fashionable kinis for us to wear. Seven Swim uses a fabric called AMNI Soul Eco which also offers a UV protection of 50+. Is there anything this kini doesn’t do? I love love love the retro swimwear look so whenever I find a high cut bikini bottom I have to it! Skies out thighs out, am I right? I will hopefully be shooting this kini over the weekend so you merbabes can see how it fits! I’m seriously telling it’s one of the most comfortable suits I own and so sexy!
