Is the Bali Body hype real?
I’ve been following Bali Body on Instagram for some time now and caught myself feeling envious of all these tan girls. They seriously look picture perfect with their bronze skin. I received their natural tanning and body oil (the gold bottle pictured above) as a Christmas gift. I used it for the first time last weekend and was surprised at how hydrated my skin looked. I was still skeptical of how deep of a tan I would achieve.
I spent the day in and out of the pool (without reapplying). After I showered, I realized that my skin was glowing and I actually had (faint) tan lines! I was so happy to not feel as pale as I was anymore. However, I wasn’t #tangoals just yet. I can’t blame the natural tanning and body oil for not changing my skin tone drastically. As I said, I was in and out of the pool and the oils most likely came off because I didn’t just lay out to tan. Nonetheless, I was still happy with my small results.
I gradually build my tan because protecting my skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays is important to me. I can hear my mom’s voice ringing in my ears as I used Bali Body because the particular bottle I used didn’t contain any SPF. So of course I listened to the voice in my head and applied sunblock over the watermelon tanning oil on my shoulders and back (which is usually where I get the most burnt). It should be noted that I NEVER put tanning oil on my face. I’m always reapplying sunblock and wearing a cap when I’m outside for extend periods of time. Even my daily moisturizer has SPF 15! The photo above is me before I tried out Bali Body’s watermelon tanning oil.
The bottle it comes in is so cute! I love the color pink so I was sold on the looks alone for this one. I didn’t really understand why it was called watermelon until I poured some oil onto my hand. It actually smells like a watermelon! Its so sweet smelling because the main ingredient is watermelon seed oil. But the question is, does it really work?
Yes, the Bali Body hype is real. If you scroll back up to the before picture (in front of the plants) that’s me right after I applied the watermelon tanning oil. A couple hours later in the sun I’m left with this amazing tan (as seen above)! It’s seriously crazy how such a small bottle could be so strong! The sun was hiding behind clouds the majority of the time and that still didn’t stop the oil’s magic. I would recommend Bali Body to anyone who is looking for a nice a glow because it really does work. I can’t wait to try out the cacao tanning oil! It smells like chocolate and supposedly gives your skin an instant glow! Look out for a post on that once it arrives. I would like to once again remind you that the products I used do NOT have any SPF whatsoever. It is important to protect your skin from the sun so I would suggest applying sunblock as I did.
