All Summer Sixteen: Traveling In My Kinis
Atlantis – Paradise Island, Bahamas
I spent the majority of my vacay on the beach because I couldn’t get over the view. Can you blame me? I mean look at that crystal clear water. I’m a Siempre Golden ambassador so naturally I was rocking their suits in the Bahamas. I was able to achieve the best tan in my Tres Amigos set thanks to its strapless top (hooray for no tanlines) and itty bitty Brazilian styled bottom. I absolutely adore this set and it was actually one of my first designer swim purchases. So I guess you can say it ignited my bikini addiction!Siempre Golden killed it with their Big Sur set! This set makes me feel sexy with the strappy design and snug fit. The top was supportive and remained in place as I dove around exploring the Bahamas’ ocean floors. I know what you’re thinking what about those awful tanlines from all the various straps?! Rest assured that I spent the entire day in the sun and didn’t end up with any strappy tanlines. I was surprised too but it should be known that I use a lot of sunscreen to protect my skin from harsh UV rays. If you’re thinking about purchasing these sets and visting Atlantis I say go for it!
Pig Beach – Exuma, Bahamas
I fulfilled one of my life long dreams: visit the famous swimming pigs. Talk about one of the best experiences of my life! After what seemed like an endless yacht ride I could finally see the island and spotted a piggie chilling near the shoreline. I dove off the boat and swam towards the island as more pigs began to emerge from the thick bushes.
I felt like I was dreaming. How could a place truly this wonderful really exist? I kept looking around in attempt to take it all in. I did not want to forget this moment. I was full of joy, amazement, and curiosity. I was beyond ecstatic to play with these tropical natives. Amazed by the view and how these piggies live on an island all by themselves. Lastly, my curiosity lead me to find out what else was on the island. The captain of the yacht mentioned there were piglets roaming the island that they typically hide deeper in the bushes for safety. Unfortunately, I was not prepared (flip flops paired with a bikini isn’t exactly the best outfit to wear exploring thick woods and climbing through narrow trails). So I stayed in the bright blue waters with my new friends.
My Posh Pua set in ultramarine was perfect for the occasion. The Kainalu top is a sporty design in which the back straps cross ensuring that nothing will pop out. Meaning, I was free to swim, run, and play with the pigs without holding back. I also love that the cups don’t move in this bikini top. I personally feel tops that are fixed in position are more flattering and form fitting than ones who slide. The matching bottoms are equally as beautiful with the simple sewn in string sides and thong cut. This bikini and location is a definite must for any wanderlust mermaid!
Staniel Cay Yacht Club – Staniel Cay, Bahamas
Shark bait? I don’t think so. I’ve had several discussions with friends about how thrilling it would be to swim with sharks. Little did I know I would actually get the opportunity to do just that! I jumped right in with my mask on to see these majestic creatures up close. The nurse sharks looked absolutely fascinating as they swam by. Not only are they quick but their scales are far more complex than I originally thought. I was captivated by their beauty.
Here I am in the Bahamas swimming with wild nurse sharks and all I want to do is swim after them. Crazy? Maybe a little but the experience was exhilarating and something everyone should try! I swam as fast as I could to keep up with the sharks in order to pet them. I didn’t feel threatened at any point as the nurse sharks were very welcoming.
Back at it again in another flawless Siempre Golden suit. The Trestles one piece is #goals. It puts a fun sexy twist on the vintage high cut styled one piece with it’s plunging neckline and straps that reside on the chest. It’s definitely not a one piece your mother wore back in the day but it’s one that you can’t pass up on!
The Hamptons – Sag Harbor, New York
It’s Summertime in the Hamptons so naturally I brought a carry on full of kinis (totally kidding). I did bring a bikini for each day though. The Hamptons is unlike any place I have previously visited. Sag Harbor exudes mellow vibes with it’s easy going lifestyle. It’s incredibly relaxing and a nice change from Miami. As soon as I drove up the gravel driveway I felt a weight come off my shoulders and I instantly felt at peace.
The house is beautifully landscapped and surrounded by the woods. I was enchanted by the flowers that do not bloom in Miami’s harsh weather and all the animals I encountered (like deer). This was my fourth visit to the Hamptons. This trip could never get old! I actually crossed another buckelist item off during my stay: ride a sailboat. I’ve always been drawn to the tranquility and serenity that sailboats seem to portray. I was not disappointed! It was like a scene out of a movie; cue the sunset, champagne, and packed picnic for a romantic evening.
The Big Apple – New York City, New York
Who says you can’t wear bikinis in the city? My final vacay spot was NYC, one of the first cities to steal my heart. I love the stores, city views, and most of all the roof top bars! I tried frose for the first time during my visit and I can confirm that the hype is real. Not only is it delicious but it’s absolutely refreshing after walking around the very hot streets of NYC.
If you’re looking for a hotel with a rooftop pool and bar in addition to having an amazing room you should check out the Gansevoort Hotel Park Ave. This hotel is amazing! Sitting in their outdoor rooftop area really makes me feel like I’m in a metropolitan city full of life and adventure. Their pool is located on the same floor with a stunning view of the Empire State Building. Could it be anymore perfect? I don’t think so.
Mikoh’s Sunset string-back bandeau and Velzyland bikini bottom in taro (which is a light lavender color) is the ultimate feminine girly kini. The color and design compliment each other in such a way that I knew I had to buy it when I laid eyes on it. I’m so happy I did because this bottom offers more coverage in comparison to other kinis in my collection (which is great for family getaways). I also don’t have to compromise style for modesity, which is an added bonus.
