Don’t Call It a Comeback

In the ever changing fashion industry one shoe in particular remains a popular favorite, the Adidas’ superstar sneaker. The signature shell toe design accompanied by the iconic three stripes made its debut in 1969. The initial purpose of the Adidas originals superstar was to be used by professional NBA players. However, its rise to popularity may be attributed to Run DMC. During the 80’s this hip-hop artist made the superstar sneaker a trend that has yet to die down. He even made a song, “My Adidas”, to give a major shout out to his fly kicks.

Fast-forward to 2016 and you’ll find people from all ages and different fashion tastes rocking their shell toes. I personally love how the sneaker has yet to change its classic design but still styles perfectly with today’s latest trends. Whether I’m wearing it with a bikini, to happy hour or run errands my outfit remains on point with these fresh kicks. Another bonus is the fact that I don’t have to sacrifice comfort for beauty! I can wear these shoes all day without experiencing any discomfort.

My only complaint is the sizing of the sneaker is off by half size. I am a true size 6 in women’s and my kicks are loose on me when I walk. Why didn’t I exchange them for a half size smaller? I received these sneakers as a gift (thank you Santa) and they were completely sold out during the holiday season. I instantly fell in love with them the moment I opened the box and couldn’t wait one more second to wear them! On Christmas morning, I ended up eating at a local Cuban restaurant in my pajamas and superstar kicks.
