Father’s Day Gift Guide KICKSANDKINIS Style

Father’s Day is quickly approaching and some of you babes have asked me about men swimwear so here’s a post filled with cute finds. Whether you’re shopping for you dad, husband, or brother there’s options for everyone! I’ve broken it down further by style and body type.

Daddy dearest: The Dad Bod

Let’s start off by defining the term dad bod for those of you who may not know. Dad bod is used to describe a male who is not considered lean or trim but also not necessarily fat. In my opinion, its a regular dude who doesn’t spend crazy hours in the gym and just looks like an average guy. Vince Vaughn and Leonardo DiCaprio are the men who come to mind that have banging dad bods.

If your dad or person you’re shopping for is classified under the dad bod body type, a swimsuit that has a relaxed fitted waistbands and drawstrings are the most flattering. I suggest you find swim trunks that zip or button in the front with a half elastic back. This way there isn’t any squeezing of love handles or back. Tommy Bahama has a great selection of fun prints, simple designs, and best of all elastic back swimwear trunks for the dad bod in your life.

Fit AF: The Lean Athlete

This is the dad you see at the beach throwing the football to his kids and catching waves. His fit and toned physique have all the beach babes screaming DILF (maybe in our heads or to our girls). Lucky for this guy he can get away with wearing pretty much anything when it comes to flattering styles. Hello David Beckham and Chris Pratt #dadgoals

My suggestion is buy bold prints, patterns, and stripes. Depending on his preference you can also purchase shorter swim trunks because skies out thighs out.

Skater boy: Tall and Thin

He was a skater boy…This is the song that randomly popped into my head as I pictured a tall and thin dad. Probably because most skaters I meet are tall and thin. This body type usually describes someone who is skinny or may be fit without actual definition or toning.

Help your man or dad use his height to his advantage by shopping 6 inch seam swim trunk and one that has a drawstring. If he’s thin but not necessarily tall af opt for a 4 inch cut. This will give the illusion that he is even taller and show off his long legs.

Here for the beer: Beer Gut

I picture Homer Simpson belching after chugging a Duff Beer when I hear beer gut. You can find this body type lounging on the beach with a 6 pack (of beer that is). Whether it’s your dad, brother, or husband you know he’s happiest when there’s a cold brew in hand.

I recommend a swim trunk that is loose fitting and longer than mid thigh to match the width of his hips. Once again, drawstrings are a great option so he can easily adjust the waist to his comfort. Avoid any style that states it is tailored or snug as these will not flatter the beer gut body type. If you really want to impress the beer gut dad purchase BBO Shorts! Their shorts have a built in bottle opener sewn inside the pocket.

Do you even lift: The Strongman

Bulkier than the lean athlete, the strongman is just as fit but stronger. This guy may need to go up a size in swimwear but that doesn’t mean he’s like other XL men. He has all kinds of gains and doesn’t have to strategically purchase swimwear to show them off. Hugh Jackman, the hottie that plays Wolverine in X Men, is the perfect example of the strongman body type.

My suggestion is to purchase a swimwear trunk that isn’t tightly fitted on the leg. You should buy one that is cut wide all the way down the leg so his quads aren’t constricted. Having said that, a 6 inch seam would look amazing on him as well. Just be sure it’s drawstring or elastic for a relaxed fit.

Short and sweet…I mean stocky

This guy may be short in size but he has the muscle to prove he’s tough. Think of Tom Hardy, total hunk and someone you definitely wouldn’t want to mess with. He knows how to dress and make himself appear to be taller than what he is (5’9″ btw). You can do the same with your man or dad.

For the short and stocky body types, remember these don’ts. Don’t buy any long draw string swim trunks or ones longer with a seam longer than 6 inches. This avoids cutting the guy’s leg in half and taking away from his muscular build. My recommendation is to purchase short to mid thigh swimwear bottoms that’ll give the illusion of a longer torso.
